5 tips to teach your kids good money habits

Money is an essential part of your daily life; from buying groceries, to paying for fuel. Helping children learn good money habits at a young age will put them on a path to becoming financially literate, which gives them a head-start to their adult lives! Here are 5 tips on how to teach your kids good money habits.

1. Model good behavior

It’s known that kids watch and mimic their parents’ actions. Set a positive example for your children by demonstrating the smart spending and saving habits that you want them to learn.

2. Create opportunities to earn money

Children need their own money, so they can learn how to make decisions on how to manage it. Paying your kids an allowance for chores completed accomplishes just that, while teaching them the value of earning their own money.

3. Involve them in your budgeting

“Money doesn’t grow on trees” is a concept that children should learn early on. Show them how you create and track your monthly budget to live within your means. With their own money, they can monitor how much they have coming in and going out.

4. Instill the importance of saving

Encourage your kids to save by gifting them a piggy bank or savings jar. Help them decide how much to save by discussing their short-term goals and future life events.

5. Teach them how to invest

Saving is a pillar of responsible money habits, but it’s only a small step towards building wealth. Encourage your children to grow their money by teaching them how to invest. With Go & Grow, you can create an account for your child and invest on their behalf until they are old enough to open their own account.

What to do if you don’t receive the SMS PIN-code

Receiving the SMS PIN-code in a timely manner is critical to withdraw money and manage your account. It can be a frustrating experience when you don’t receive it, or it’s delayed. But don’t worry. There are a number of ways to troubleshoot the problem.

Here’s a guide for what to do if you don’t receive the SMS PIN-code.

Confirm that your phone number is correct

On the Settings page, you can view the phone number registered to your account. If your country code or phone number is incorrect, update it, then request the PIN-code again.

Check your cell phone reception

If you have a weak signal, the SMS PIN-code will be delayed. Move to a different area where the signal is stronger.

Restart your phone

Switch off your phone for at least 30 seconds, then try again. In most cases, it solves the issue as it updates the gateway.

Try a different device

If you have a second phone, insert your SIM card, then request the SMS PIN-code. This will confirm if there is a problem with your phone.

Contact support

If all else fails, you can contact us by completing the online form on our support site. You can find the link here. Include what you’ve tried in the email, so we know how to guide you next.

3 no-fuss ways to save money this autumn

Summer can be a costly time of year. Expenses for family vacations, social activities, and back to school shopping can add up quickly. With the Christmas season just around the corner, you may need a break from spending to get your budget back on track.

Here are 3 no-fuss ways to save money this autumn.

Make coffee at home

There’s nothing like a hot cup of coffee on a brisk autumn day. But lattes from the coffee shop are an unnecessary expense. Brew coffee at home to save 3 to 5 euro for each caffeine craving.

Have no-spend weekends

Having an enjoyable weekend doesn’t have to cost money. For entertainment, opt for free events in your local community. Autumn is a popular time for cultural festivals that are usually free to attend. Or plan activities at home, such as game or movie nights with family and friends.

Cancel unused subscriptions

If you haven’t been to the gym in a few months, it’s probably time to ditch your membership. Review your recurring expenses and cancel any subscriptions that go unused each month.
