The top 5 questions from investors in December - Answered by Kairi

1. Regular bank transfers are really time-consuming, taking up to 3 days to arrive. Are there any alternatives for the deposits?

Yes, we support a variety of payment options. For example, you can use your VISA/Mastercard to make your transfer, where payments are almost instant.

Another convenient and fast way is to use Trustly. Trustly is an intelligent system that lets you deposit to Bondora directly from your bank account safely, and it’s faster than a regular bank payment. It supports over 3,300 banks, and you don’t have to sign up with them directly to use it. All you have to do is select “Add money” via Trustly on your Bondora account, select your bank and country, log in to your online bank, fill in the details, and it’s done.

2. Can you explain how the return is calculated for my Go & Grow?

The daily return for Go & Grow is calculated using compounding interest with actual days in a year (365 days). The daily return, assuming 6.75%* p.a., is calculated using the Go & Grow Account Value as of Yesterday (1+6.75%) in the power of (1/365).

This means that everything you earn will be re-invested and also increases your Account Value, so you can benefit from compounding interest.

3. How do you calculate the risk category of a loan or a borrower?

We use a proprietary credit modeling system which brings together 1,000’s of unique data points to determine how likely it is that a borrower will default on their loan. Traditional data from credit bureaus, population registries, and employment are of course taken in to account, but we also use non-traditional methods like social media and how they use our site.

Each borrower is then given a credit rating ranging from AA – HR (low to high risk), so we can then match this with our investors chosen risk strategy.

4. Some of the P2P platforms offer a buyback guarantee for loans. What do you think of this and are there plans to also offer such a guarantee?

In our experience, the majority of investors are averse to volatility. Instead, they prefer to know upfront what they can expect their net return to be, so we simply set their expectations in line with this when they begin investing with us.

This way, they can plan ahead and define a clear strategy for a healthy financial future. Then there aren’t any surprises and no need for a “guarantee”.

5. I’d like to know what are the advantages of Bondora for investors over other asset classes, e.g. shares and real-estate?

The two main advantages are simplicity and time.

You don’t need a degree in finance or experience working in a major global bank to start investing with Bondora. With this in mind – we’ve made sure the investor lifestyle is accessible for everyone, no matter if you’re a student, stay-at-home mom or if you’re retired. There are no barriers for anyone to begin, and the simplest way is Go & Grow.

On-going time management is also a huge advantage that’s often overlooked. It’s quite common for most of our investors to log in every now and then to see how their account is doing, without the need for any manual intervention. If you’re trading stocks or buying real-estate, you can expect this to become part of your lifestyle as there’s consistent research, analysis and management required – not to mention a different risk level.
